Tuesday Tip: Zoom Meeting

By: Chase Petersen

At this point in the year we are all starting to get used to virtual meeting on Zoom.  From the pandemic most business are learning that they can operate more remote than they previously did, so even as things return to normal virtual meetings are here to stay.  In this article I am going to highlight a few tips and tricks on how best to use Zoom.

One of the easiest things to forget is to enter the zoom call silently, especially if you are late.  Open the Zoom app and click settings, on the audio tab click the checkmark to always enter meetings muted.  With this you will never interrupt a meeting again.

If you are in a meeting with a lot of people and want to insure everyone is on mute to start or regain control over the meeting Alt+M will mute everyone in the meeting (Cmd+Ctrl+M for Mac).  Also you can use the space bar to mute and unmute yourself while in meetings.

As we return back to a normal schedule and people are out and about more it will become more important to be able to participate in Zoom meetings remotely, away from your workstation at home or the office.  Zoom has developed an App for Android and iOS which can be downloaded for free.  You can access your meeting via the phone app and even set up notifications on your phone for scheduled meeting.

As our world changes the way we interact with each other will continue to evolve.  The trajectory I see business being conducted will include virtual meetings more and more, so we need to keep up with the technology to participate in those meetings.
