Tuesday Tip: Take a Seat

By Kate O’Neal

Tuesday Tip | Take a Seat with Seated | Network 1 ConsultingFor many of us, going out to eat is a relaxing break after a busy and sometimes stressful workday. Some do it more often than others, but I’m sure we can all admit it’s a nice break from spending time shopping, prepping and cooking the meal, and cleaning the kitchen afterwards. For me, one of the negative aspects of going out to eat is it’s often more expensive than cooking at home. What if I told you there’s an app that pays you for eating out? It sounds too good to be true, but it’s not!

I’d like to introduce you to an app called Seated. Seated is a mobile booking platform that rewards you for eating out. Simply speaking, you make a reservation at a restaurant on Seated, you show up, eat, and within 24 hours they pay you $15. You have the option to be rewarded with $15 towards Amazon, Starbucks, or Uber.

Still, it sounds too good to be true, right? It really works! A couple weeks ago, my husband, Travis, and I went out to a restaurant which we booked on Seated. Within 24 hours, we received a code to add $15 to our Amazon account. Simple as that!

There are a few things to keep in mind. Seated helps restaurants fill their empty tables so reservations might not always be available at peak times. When we ate out, we had options for 5:30pm or 9:00pm. However, we made the reservation a week in advance so it’s possible all the other times were already booked. A few other things to keep in mind:

  • You can cancel up to 15 minutes before the reservation. If you have enough “no shows,” you’ll likely be banned from using the app.
  • You have to order food; drinks only are not eligible to receive the rewards.
  • You have to make a reservation for more than one person.
  • You can’t book at the same restaurant more than two times in a month – they want you to explore different restaurants.
  • Seated is currently only available in 15 markets.
  • Most restaurants available on Seated in Atlanta are within the city. We OTP’ers have to travel ITP to earn rewards.

So go ahead, try it out! In my opinion, receiving $15 is a substantial reward for going out to dinner, which you would have been doing anyway. It’s a good excuse to try new restaurants and new food. Who doesn’t want a few free coffees, free Uber rides, or $15 in their Amazon account to buy pretty much anything you could possibly think of?

Oh, and if you’re going to try it, go ahead and use my code, KATE127, when you sign up. You’ll receive a $5 extra reward and I’ll also be rewarded for telling you about this awesome app!

Happy Dining!
