Hackers Don’t Take a Holiday

fireworks on a computer screenWho doesn’t love a long holiday weekend? It is a wonderful time to relax, recharge, and reconnect with friends and family.

Not to rain on your fireworks, but the bad guys don’t take time off. In fact, they tend to ramp up their efforts during holidays to take advantage of the fact that many people tend to let their guard down while on vacation. Hackers know that many employees will be far away from work or just be home with the family enjoying the festivities, and this is precisely the time they may attack.

This warning is not without precedent. In fact, it was last year over the July 4 holiday weekend that between 800 and 1500 small to mid-sized companies were impacted by the Kaseya ransomware incident. So keep your guard up and continue to be wary of anything that looks awry. And enjoy your time off too!
