Tuesday Tip: Netflix Take the Wheel

If you are anything like me, you have a problem finding new TV shows and movies to watch.  I will scroll through Netflix for far too long looking at title after title until I settle on re-watching a TV show or movie I have already seen and know I love.

Netflix sees us and knows it is not easy to commit 2+ hours on an unknown option out of hundreds of other choices next to it. To combat this, Netflix has rolled out the “play something” option on its TV-based applications. This button will “randomly” select a new tv show or movie using an algorithm of entertainment options it thinks you will like.

This has been wonderful for me because I enjoy watching new movies but have a problem picking them myself. Now the blame for watching a bad movie is on Netflix, but I have to admit, the algorithm is pretty good. If you have been properly “liking” movies and tv shows the “play something” button will most likely give you something in your wheelhouse.

Enjoy your random movie nights because I know I will!
