Tuesday Tip: Google Lens

Google Lens is an app that allows you to interact and learn about the world around you through your phone’s camera.

Instead of attempting to describe what you’re seeing to a google search: “tall pointy building, NYC” – you can point your Google Lens at the building, and it will identify the building name for you with links to learn more.

Google Lens can ID more than just buildings, you can use it to ID just about anything you see.

  • Translate text
  • Copy and paste text from a photo
  • Call a phone number
  • Add an event to your calendar
  • Shop items you like – see shoes you like? Use Google Lens to find a link to purchase something similar.
  • Need to solve your math home work? Use Google Lens to solve the equation.

The list above isn’t an exhaustive list but just a few of the ways the app can be used. Next time you’re on a walk, try Google Lens on a plant you like and see how accurately it can ID.
