Tuesday Tip: Summer Life Hacks

straw through strawberryThe weather is warming, the plants are blooming (achoo!), and summer is well on its way. This week’s Tuesday Tip is going to focus on some life hacks that will make your summer just a bit better, and in many cases, easier.

  • Got a nice cold drink on your mind, only to find out, you never put one in the refrigerator. Good news, if you wrap a wet paper towel around your bottle and pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes, your drink will be ice cold.
  • Are you craving some fresh strawberries? To quickly remove the stem from them, insert a straw through the bottom of the strawberry and push it through to quickly and easily remove the stem from the top.
  • Do you enjoy an iced coffee or cappuccino? To keep it from getting watered down, use frozen coffee cubes to keep it as strong as you like.
  • To keep a popsicle from melting down your (or your kid’s) arm or onto your clothes, place a cupcake liner at the base of it to catch all the melting juice.
  • Heading to the beach? Clean out an old sunscreen bottle and use it to hide your phone, keys and other valuables from would-be thieves.
  • Avoiding the great outdoors because of mosquitos? While I can’t keep them from biting you, but if you place a bit of toothpaste on the bites it will take away the itch.
  • And finally, just for fun…when you have almost finished with a jar of Nutella or peanut butter, put some ice cream in the nearly empty container to finish it off in a tasty way.
