There is an app for everything, and the Tody app is great for people who hate cleaning. Tody helps you break down your chores into smaller steps, so it doesn’t pile up to something that takes an entire day.
Tody first has you set up the rooms in your house, and the tasks that need to be done in each. Then you can set the task frequency, when you last did each one, and who completed it. The app allows you to add members/participants to a shared household account so the chores can be distributed. You can also set up outdoor chores – such as lawn maintenance and garage organization – or a custom chore specific to your home. The app also allows you to “gamify” your tasks where you compete with each other or a “dust bunny” to finish your work first and earn points. The color coding and status bar are useful to quickly check what’s complete, what’s coming up, and where you are behind.
The app is available for both Android and iPhone. iPhone users must purchase the app for $6.99 and then you can enable “family sharing” and invite up to 6 people to join. The app is free for Android users, but if you want access to premium features (including family sharing), you must commit to a $4.99 per year subscription. The app is probably worth that fee just to avoid family arguments and headaches. I’ve only just started using the app and setting up the free Android features, but so far I enjoy how detailed it is and how easy it is to see your task progress. Let me know what you think.
