Tuesday Tip – How to Use Photos to Find Recipes

A picture of a woman at a table taking a photo of the meal with her smartphone. I love to cook and always look for new and creative recipes. I belong to a variety of cooking subscriptions and pick out my favorites to try. Thanks to iOS 17 your iPhone can do more than just preserve delicious memories by photographing them, it can now help you recreate them. The Photos app can identify people, animal species, landmarks, and even recipes! This makes the Photos app an indispensable companion for cooking enthusiasts.

Whether you’ve snapped a photo of your meal in a restaurant, taken a screenshot of a dish from social media, or downloaded an image of a dish, your iPhone can now suggest similar recipes. To unlock this feature:

  • Open the Photos app and select your food image.
  • Tap the i icon.
  • Select Look Up Food.
  • Browse the list of suggested recipes.
  • Tap Show More for additional options.
  • Swipe up to explore variations.
  • Tap on a recipe to view the full details.

Bon appetit and happy cooking!
