A friend recently told me that she really missed her iPhone with the physical home button. That piqued my curiosity, so I did some digging and found that it is possible to still have the home button on fully touch screen devices. Of course, it’s not going to be exactly the same since you won’t have the physical button to push, however this option gives you more personalized results.
How to turn on your home button:
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Assistive Touch
- Toggle Assistive Touch on.
- A “home” button appear on your screen, and you can use your finger to drag it wherever you like.
Once set up, you have multiple customization options. For example, you can have one tap take you to your home screen, two taps open your camera, and three taps can activate Siri. Other popular options are to open settings, notifications, take a screenshot, or adjust volume, and with an AirTag on your keychain, you can even use it to find your keys.
One of the ways this home button is better than the original is you can drag it to different locations, so it doesn’t block anything on your screen. Welcome Home!
