Tuesday Tip: Block Spam Calls and Texts on an iPhone

woman mad at phoneLast week, we shared how to report spam texts to GSMA, and this week we build on that by talking about how to block them. As you can tell, at Network 1 we loathe spam calls and texts! Answering a spam call encourages fraudsters, because if a person answers their call, they will keep calling to get you to fall for one of their scams. Clicking a link in a spam text message could install malware on your phone to collect your personal information. How do we get rid of all these pesky calls and texts? It’s easy!

To block spam calls from potential swindlers, first go to Settings and click on Phone. Turn on the feature labeled Silence Unknown Callers. This will silence calls from any number not saved in your contacts and send the call straight to voicemail.

To block spam texts, go to Settings and click on Messages. Turn on Filter Unknown Senders. This will block texts from numbers not saved in your contacts. Instead of going to your regular text messages page, the spam texts will get sorted to a second tab labeled Unknown Senders.

Voila, enjoy your spam-free life! If you have any questions or need help creating a more secure environment, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for assistance.
