Microsoft has some great products, but did you know there are alternatives? Google has comparable options with a lot of the same functionality. Google Workspace offers Workspace Essentials for free, with the ability to collaborate with others in your organization using Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Chat, and Google Meet. To sign up for Google Workspace Essentials, you’ll need to use your organization email. From there you can create documents similar to excel and word to collaborate, chat, or hold video meetings with your team. Instead of using Outlook, keep your email in Gmail and open the side bar to create and manage your to do list with Tasks and Google Keep, pin important notes, and quickly access your calendar.
I use a lot of the Google apps to keep my home life more organized. I’ve tried several list making apps and Google Keep is my favorite. I am an Android smartphone user, so the Google products are built into my phone by default. Using what’s on my phone is an easy solution. I create grocery lists with Google Keep, which allows me to share the list with others and check items off the list in real time. I’ve started using Google calendar to keep track of the family’s doctor’s appointments, social gatherings and extracurricular activities. It also lets me turn on custom reminders so I don’t miss anything. Next I’m going to try Tasks, which opens in the Gmail sidebar with a list of things I need to accomplish by the day’s end.
You can choose to use Google’s products for both home and work life! I will share other useful Google apps as I discover them.
