Tuesday Tip: Share Content from Your iPhone to Your Smart TV

Man looking at iPhone and Smart TV. iOS updates have introduced AirPlay with Shared TVs, a feature that streamlines content sharing from iPhones to compatible smart TVs. This feature eliminates the need for manual input switching or third-party applications. AirPlay seamlessly streams media to smart TVs connected to your iCloud account or integrated into your Apple ecosystem. You can easily share movies, shows, music, or photos with just a few taps.

  • Ensure Compatibility
    • Your TV must support AirPlay 2 (common in modern smart TVs from Apple-supported brands like Samsung, LG, Sony, or Vizio)
    • Your iPhone should run the latest iOS version
  • Connect to the Same Wi-Fi
    • Both your iPhone and smart TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Start AirPlay
    • Open the content you want to share
    • Tap the AirPlay icon (rectangle with an arrow at the bottom) in the app or Control Center
    • For older phones, tap the “share” button (square with an arrow at the top)
  • Select the Shared TV
    • Choose your desired smart TV from the list of available devices
  • Play Your Content
    • Your media will now stream to the shared TV in real time

By following these steps, you can effortlessly share content from your iPhone to your smart TV, enhancing your viewing experience.
