Tuesday Tip: iOS 18 Introduces Powerful App Locking and Hiding Features

These features allow you to protect sensitive information, declutter your home screen, and maintain your digital privacy.

App Locking

Secure your apps with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode to prevent unauthorized access. How to lock apps:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Privacy & Security

  3. Select App Locking

  4. Choose apps to lock and toggle on Require Authentication

  5. Select your preferred authentication method

  6. Test the lock by attempting to open the secured app

App Hiding

Keep your home screen organized and your apps private by hiding them in a folder in the App Library. To hide apps:

  1. Long-press the app you want to hide

  2. Tap “Remove App”

  3. Select “Hide App”

  4. Access hidden apps in the App Library’s Hidden Apps folder

  5. Authenticate to open hidden apps

To unhide an app, locate it in the Hidden Apps folder, long-press, and select “Unhide App”.
