The snipping tool is a native Windows app that allows you to easily capture/screenshot any information on your computer screen. I was under the impression that the majority of people who used a Windows PC were aware of this application’s existence. That being said, I’ve recently discovered an increasing number of individuals who didn’t know about this handy app, even with it being built into Windows year after year (starting in 2002).
For those of you who were none the wiser about the snipping tool, here’s how to access it to quickly screenshot information on your PC.
Navigate to the Start menu on your PC, and type “snipping tool” to locate/run the app.
Once you run the app, you’ll see the following window populate.
The explanation of snipping options are as follows:
- Free-form Snip – draw with your mouse around the area you wish to share
- Rectangular Snip – select a rectangular area
- Window Snip – a single click captures the entire area
- Full-screen Snip – a single click captures the screen
