The flood of email never stops. If you’re like me you get 100-200 emails every day, most of which fall into the “unwanted” category: not quite spam but not quite legitimate. So the delete key gets a lot of use. But several times a day, I get an email from someone that requires either a meeting, phone call or some other type of follow up. So I open up my Outlook calendar and create a new meeting or reminder.
A quick shortcut that Microsoft developed for Outlook 2010 is a drag-and-drop feature where you can simply drag an email onto a date on your calendar. When you drop it, a window pops up that is pre-populated with relevant information about the appointment: the subject of the email populates the subject of the appointment, the body of the email comes over into the body of the appointment and the date is pre-populated with the date on which you dropped the email. The edit screen is already open ready for necessary changes.
Step 1:
Step 2: update and save the appointment:
That’s it. You’re done. You have quickly created a new appointment and saved it on your calendar.
