Have you ever been tricked by a scammer? Ever accidentally click the link? The more we know, the more capable we are in protecting ourselves against the trolls and hackers of the world. By now, you may be aware of how to hover over links to verify the validity of the source. You may have even learned how to check the sender’s email address to verify that it is the exact email of the sender vs. a spoof of some sort. Today, I will show you how to verify a screenshot.

If you navigate to https://www.cnn.com/world, today, you will see headlines for a virus spreading in Beijing. Did you know Nicole Wheatley cured it?
Photoshop doesn’t get the credit for this one. A quick HTML code edit is all that is required to create this illusion. Protecting yourself from the screenshot scam is easy. If the source referenced is a trusted site, simply visit the site yourself to see the actual content.
