Tuesday Tip: Apple Did It Again – AirPods!

By Kevin Jackman

One of my biggest pet peeves used to be getting my headphones snagged. Notice I said “used to be…” Snagged headphones is something I no longer experience due to my newly purchased Apple AirPods.

I was first introduced to AirPods by one of my coworkers. He would walk around the office with a pearl-like device in his ear, and it sparked a curiosity within me. I walked up to him, and as he saw me approach, he gave the earbud a quick double-tap, which immediately paused his tunes. I asked him about his AirPods, and he had nothing but great things to say. His answers made me aware of the limitations in place with normal headphones. You take regular headphones out of your pocket and spend about 30 seconds to a minute untangling them. With AirPods, you simply pop open the magnetic case, insert the earbuds, and you are ready to go. This is when I realized that these weren’t just new headphones…it was a lifestyle change. No more “feeding” your phone through your seatbelt so that it won’t become tangled. No more snagging your headphones while out for a run. I purchased my AirPods, and I have absolutely no regrets.

These earbuds use the same charger as the recent iPhone models. Just a 15-minute charge gives you 3 hours of music. They connect with any Bluetooth device, but iPhone users are able to utilize the full extent of their features. In your iPhone settings, you can select controls for each earbud. Double-tapping the AirPods allows you to pause/play, go to the next track, go to the previous track, or ask Siri; simply select which headphone is given which feature.

If you’re an avid headphone user, I would highly recommend Apple AirPods.
