Top Blogs and Websites for Keeping Current with IT Trends

By Kate Viebrock

One of the most exciting things about the world of information technology is its rapid rate of change. The result is a constant flow of new products and abilities that can deliver incredible benefits to your business and your clients. With all that change, however, also comes a big challenge: keeping up with the latest tools, techniques and threats you need to know about.

Technology articles and blogsEven the most devoted full-time IT professionals struggle to stay on top of the vast numbers of new developments and emerging threats, and for those whose workdays are spent in other pursuits, it’s nearly impossible.

Luckily, there are plenty of technology-focused writers and websites devoted to gathering this information and packaging it neatly for others to read. Whether you’re looking for information about a specific topic or just like to keep up with what’s happening, there’s something perfect for your interests. So if you’ve read through our amazing posts and feel like you still need more, here is a collection of resources you might want to explore at your leisure, in no particular order.

https://www.iphonejd.com is written specifically for legal professionals using iOS devices. The author is an attorney himself, so he speaks from personal experience. If you like the content he provides, you can also subscribe to his weekly newsletter.

https://googleforwork.blogspot.com is all Google, all the time. It’s the company’s blog about what’s new and interesting in the Googlesphere, and how organizations can use it. If your practice relies on Google products and apps, you’ll probably want to check in here periodically.

https://www.itbusinessedge.com focuses on IT for businesses, and provides a good all-around collection of blogs, tech news and information. It has different sections so you can read articles about just what you’re interested in (cloud, security, mobility, etc.) or take in the latest articles about the whole spectrum of business technology topics.

https://readwrite.com is a wonderful source for finding out about everyday tech trends and reading articles about new products, ideas and threats.

https://gigaom.com/  is one of the biggest blogs out there. It has 12 full-time writers who contribute articles regularly. The subject matter is focused on what’s new in the IT industry.

https://www.techeye.net is another big site with tons of articles covering almost everything there is in the tech world. It has sections devoted to business, software, security, mobile and other categories to make it easy to find what you’re looking for.

https://www.howtogeek.com offers advice, information and insights about a wide range of personal and business-related technology issues. It can also be a good place to find answers and instructions for handling computer and technology problems, if for some reason you’re unable or not inclined to contact your regular tech support team.

https://arstechnica.com/ is a fun site with articles touching on almost every angle of tech, science and geek culture. It’s not focused on business IT or a place to find technical advice, but it’s a great place to learn about emerging threats and news you might miss other places as well as random interesting tidbits.

As you no doubt noticed, these blogs and websites are all different; each is valuable in its own way. They aren’t meant to replace your IT support team – we’re always here for you! – but serve as a great way to entertain yourself while learning more about goings-on in the technical space if you’re interested.

Keep in mind that this is only a tiny smattering of what’s available. If your favorite isn’t on the list, please share it in the comments so that others can enjoy it too!
