Apple Releases iPhone 4G

iPhone 4G released

Preorders for the new Apple iPhone 4G have begun in anticipation of its release at the end of June, 2010.  Initial sales have been brisk and demand is expected to be high.  The 4G has many new features (see below) but the main complaint is that it will only work on the AT&T wireless network in the United States.  The unreliability and lack of adequate coverage of the AT&T network has been at the heart of the main criticism thrown towards Apple but CEO Steve Jobs says any network provider would be in a similar situation given the extra load the iPhone is putting on the network.  Many iPhone fans are excited about new features such as:

  • Screen resolution 4X higher than the current iPhone model
  • 24% thinner
  • Front and back video camera to allow video chat
  • Faster processor
  • Extended battery life for 7 hours of talk time or 10 hours of video playback

Prices are $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model, with a service contract with AT&T.
