The Best of “60 Tips in 60 Minutes”
by Tony Rushin
This is the last tip I’m going to share from the 60 Tips in 60 Minutes presentation from the ABA TECHSHOW 2011 (okay, maybe not… but I’m pretty sure it will be). I didn’t see the event live but I understand that it was great. Before I share the tip, let’s acknowledge the 4 presenters who put the 2011 tips together:
Andrew Z. Adkins III, President, Legal Technology Institute
Dominic Jaar, National Leader, Information Management & E-Discovery, KPMG Canada
Michael J. Morse, Law Offices of Michael J. Morse, P.C.
Nerino J. Petro Jr., Practice Management Advisor, Wisconsin Bar
Michael Morse found this tip for us. PhoneTag is a great productivity booster. It converts voicemail into text and .wav or .mp3 audio files then forwards the text + audio file to your mobile phone, e-mail or both. It works for both mobile phone or office phone systems.
This is a great productivity tool. It reminds me of what we use at Network 1, via our phone system, when someone leaves a voicemail: we send the .wav file as an email attachment. What makes PhoneTag more effective is that it also converts the voicemail to text so you can read it (you aren’t always in a good spot to listen to a .wav file) and it works for messages left at your office and/or left on your mobile system. PhoneTag also has more flexibility (.mp3 files or .wav files; sent via email or text message). They have several plans to choose from ranging from 35 cents per message to unlimited messages each month for $29.95.
This is the 18th of 23 blogs I’m writing to celebrate the Atlanta Association of Legal Administrators’ 23rd annual Business Partner Expo. This year the Business Partner Expo will be held from 3:00 – 6:30 pm on August 17th at the Cobb Galleria. Over 150 legal administrators and their guests are expected to be on hand learning about the latest technologies, finding solutions to business issues, uncovering emerging trends and developing valuable partnerships to help their law firms. Already an AALA member? I’ll see you there! Not an AALA member? Give me a call at 404.943.0800 x133 to discuss how you might be able to attend as a guest!
